Workshop: Intercultural dialogue - Local knowledge of ethnic minorities in the Mekong Region
Workshop with delegates of the IKAP-Network, a Chiang Mai based NGO working on the incorporation of indigenous knowledge and cultures in MMSEA (Mainland Mountain Southeast Asia). The network presented their plan to build up the Indigenous Peoples' Regional Institute for Southeast Asia, an institution that would link, for the first time in history, the indigenous minorities of six countries in the region (Burma, Thailand, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos).

Symposium: Gender and Islam in Southeast Asia
The symposium brings together scholars from various countries and disciplines, many of them activists, in order to encourage interdisciplinary discussion and to deepen the understanding of Islam and gender relationships in Southeast Aisa and beyond. The biennial EUROVIET conferences contribute to the exchange in and coordination of the field of Vietnam studies in Germany, Europe and beyond. Symposium and Festival: Southeast Asia Days in Passau
The event was organized to celebrate the founding of the Chair for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Passau. The symposium, which was attended by more than 30 researchers, addressed the challenge of "Theory and Empiricism in modern Southeast Asian Studies". The public festival included over 70 representatives of the Embassies of Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam, presenting dances and music from their native countries. The festival in the community hall of Passau was visited by as much as 700 guests.
